The Challenge

With the introduction of the PCN DES and the tight deadline to complete the Network Schedules, Derbyshire LMC requested that we host and deliver two webinars for their constituents.

Being scattered across the rural county of Derbyshire meant providing the advice and guidance via a webinar would allow people to participate when previously they may not have attended a face-to-face session due to travel.

Primary Care Direct’s brief was to focus wholly on PCN network schedules and what types of considerations PCNs needed to include and some guidance around completion specifically looking at legal and financial implications.

The Action

PCD’s unique selling point is that we provide all of the support, advice and guidance PCN’s need in one place.

So following an initial pre-project meeting to confirm the brief with Derbyshire LMC, we mobilised our team of legal and finance experts to prepare and deliver the brief.

We ensured that all the key points Derbyshire LMC wanted us to cover such as the different types of clauses and fixed/ extendable/ replaceable and locally define, additional clauses and protections, funding and VAT implications, financial flow between lead practice and member practices, HR and employment issues were included.

Liability, governance and decision making and resolution of disputes were also included within the webinar.

We also decided to hold one webinar during the day, and one on an evening, to attract as many attendees as possible.

The Results

Over 65 attendees dialled into the webinars covering the majority of the PCN’s within the Derbyshire area. Attendees stated that they found the webinars informative and interesting and looked forward to other such webinars on different topics as Primary Care Networks developed.

“Thank you Primary Care Direct for hosting our PCN webinar and securing two expert speakers on finance and legal matters. The webinar worked well, saved travel time and was thorough in content. Our delegates in Derbyshire were able to ask questions and responses live and the recording was able to be downloaded for a PCN reference guide. Would recommend PCD”
