It’s been a spectacular Easter for The Detox Club this year, with thanks to an award of funding from the Big Lottery Fund. Receiving this award is a mark of quality of the work which Agencia’s Active Recovery service is doing in communities.
The Detox Club (which was initially established by Agencia’s Active Recovery service to offer support to service users), transitioned into a constitution within its own right earlier this year, following a meeting and voting process which involved service users and staff.
The Detox Club is open Monday - Friday between 10:00am and 12:00pm as a drop in for Active Recovery Service Users and their families. It also offers training in various fields, activities, social events and trips. The Detox Club is already having a positive impact on our Service Users and their families by supporting the Service Users in their recovery journey and serving as a preventative measure for relapse. This is reflected in our Service User satisfaction scores, with 86% fully agreeing that this is the best recovery service for them and 99% stating they would recommend Active Recovery to friends or family if they needed similar treatment or care.

“With these already brilliant results, the funding presents an excellent opportunity to grow further, with plans to spend the money on an exciting array of days out, fishing licences, cooking classes, gym passes and additional help to bring more options to the multicultural and diverse community in the Scunthorpe area.”
The Big Lottery Fund ensures money raised by players of The National Lottery helps communities to achieve their ambitions and thrive by awarding grants, bringing communities together, and sharing what they learn with communities, other funders and the government.

More Information about Active Recovery
North Lincolnshire Council has appointed Agencia to provide an innovative and challenging service supporting individuals who have long-term issues with substance abuse. The service, called ‘Active Recovery’, works across the county in close liaison with a team of General Practitioners and other medical professionals to meet the needs of clients through the prescription of appropriate Opiate Substitution Therapy. This medical support is embedded within a holistic and challenging package of care and psychosocial interventions to enable clients to achieve their personal ‘recovery’ goals and support them on the journey towards a drug free life.
