Agencia, which delivers transformational health and justice projects, both in the UK and internationally, has been training police officers in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), equipping them with the latest skills in crime-fighting and investigation, and more is planned for 2022.
During November and December 2021, 12 officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were trained to undertake investigations into complex and serious organised crime and a second cohort is being trained between January and March 2022.
Before being commissioned to deliver the training, Agencia undertook a strategic assessment of the capacity and capability of the police force to undertake investigations into complex and serious organised crime. Agencia then produced all the training materials, adapting specialist investigative techniques to be fit for purpose for local implementation.
The programme concludes with a 'train the trainer' course to ensure the skillsets are passed on to build longer-term sustainability and lay the groundwork for more efficient and successful investigations.
Tim Holt, Agencia's Training Director, said:
'This programme is the latest in a number of international training programmes we have delivered in a wide variety of international locations such as Kenya, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the BVI we’ve covered areas such as case management, crime scene management, exhibit handling, interview skills and court skills, using a ‘student-centered model’ where participants increase both theoretical and practical skills. All our training features up-to-date and progressive investigative techniques which can be tailored for anywhere in the world in the fight against crime.’
Additional Agencia training in BVI for 2022 includes specialisms of financial and advanced financial investigation together with Senior Investgating Officer training, which will also be delivered to officers from other British Overseas Territories. The bespoke training blends classroom-based teaching with on-site mentoring where Agencia's experts work closely alongside officers to apply the theory into real life scenarios.
Agencia has a track-record in delivering quality British expertise worldwide, emphasised by its Managing Director, Helen Gibson, being awarded an MBE for services to international trade in recognition of Agencia’s international achievements in Her Majesty The Queen's 2022 New Year’s Honours List.
Keith Hunter, Agencia's Executive Director of Justice, Policing and Security said:
‘We are capable of deploying experts anywhere in the world who can deliver the highest quality operational investigative and legal services, including the UK, but we also train and mentor people to develop their own organisational capability, aiming to leave a legacy wherever we can. We’re trusted by our government and many others to deliver for them so if you think you may have an issue we could assist with please give us a call.’
