Authorisation Success through Agencia’s Mock Panel Support

Authorisation Success through Agencia’s Mock Panel Support

The visit, a central part of the overall authorisation process which allows CCGs to take a full role in the commissioning of services for patients in the new structure of the NHS is a real challenge.....but it is not news for the Agencia team who have taken the role of 'critical friend' to commissioning organisations in the past under the World Class Commissioning scheme.

With several CCGs taking up this opportunity Agencia was delighted to receive fantastic feedback from one CCG on their experience and the difference it made to their 'real deal'

"Our authorisation went very well indeed. We got an excellent report and the number of red ratings fell from 44/119 to 5/119. On the day our whole team demonstrated confidence, passion, honesty and a team ethos.  The practice sessions held with Agencia were extremely helpful and in many ways the KLOE panels were easier than when we were practising. Overall a great result - the Agencia team are to be thanked for their input - very valuable"

Phil Earnshaw, Chair of Wakefield CCG.

With the first waves well underway and waves 3 and 4 looming, Mike Robson, Sector Advisor for Agencia's Health & Social Care & Communities sector, said:

"Agencia is able to provide a team of experienced consultants who together combine high level technical knowledge of the NHS with top quality coaching and evaluation skills. This enables them to challenge and support local organisation, as part of their development and team building, in a safe environment. The process enables local teams to test out their preparedness and builds confidence prior to the official visit, as well as developing team working skills which will support the organisation for the longer term"

The Agencia team has been making contact with many CCGs over the last few weeks, the response has been quite variable, with some CCGs feeling quite confident in their ability to achieve authorisation. For those CCGs who wish to take up the opportunity for further preparation and support to achieve the best possible outcomes, Victoria Austin, Business Development Manager, said:

"Taking up a preparation opportunity is a perfect way to see money well spent. The benefits our CCG partners are experienceing from a full or half day session are phenomenal!  We are keen to support as many CCGs as possible and share our knowledge on the commissioning authorisation experience, so please do get in touch."
