From project leaders to a key member of Agencia’s advisory board, the company’s healthcare experts delivered some strong success stories at a recent Agencia conference.
The support which Agencia provides for an NHS under increasing pressure was highlighted in the healthcare discussion at the company’s conference.
Members of the Agencia team gave an update on some of the projects which the company is delivering with great success, and one member of Agencia’s Advisory Board told of the benefits which she sees as someone with extensive first-hand experience of the NHS at work.
Kath Lavery, Chair of Yorkshire Ambulance service, underlined the dedication and the achievements of the NHS and its people who include “some of the brightest brains in the world” as they meet mounting challenges.
She said: “There are lots of reasons for rising demand including poverty and austerity. NHS demand is based on lifestyles and the problems that lifestyles cause and we are once again in reorganisation. Agencia work within that environment because they understand and share the NHS values – they couldn’t do it if they didn’t.”
Kiran Johnson, the lead for Agencia’s Primary Care Direct service, told how the service works with partners in sectors including law, finance and marketing to provide support to doctors, dentists and pharmacists.
She said: “We are a consortium which provides business support to GPs, dentists and pharmacists, working with those networks to meet the needs of the population. That’s how we are transforming lives.
“We have grown, we are getting more people who want to become associate members and we hope that continues. One of the things we have been discussing recently is international markets. We want to expand nationally and also look for opportunities internationally.”
Graeme Dixon, Agencia’s Director of Innovation and Service Delivery, told of the success of the company’s Active Recovery programme to combat substance misuse and the Rewire support system to tackle painkiller addiction.
He said: “We are influencing policy-making at a national level. If we tackled the number of people who are simply addicted to alcohol we would save £10 billion a year. Our Rewire service saved tens of thousands of pounds.
“The amount of painkillers prescribed to women over 60 is through the ceiling. Two years ago nobody was interested but we have driven that agenda and we have saved lives.”
