Agencia was delighted to be invited to work with the Great Britain China Centre to host a delegation of judges from the Guizhou Province High People’s Court in South West China. Continuing Agencia’s ongoing contribution to international cooperation in the field of Rule of Law, the delegation were able to take part in a court observation at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Following this, Steve Jacobs (one of Agencia’s Principal Consultants) then chaired a round table discussion about judicial ethics and performance evaluation, where he was joined by Professor Jeremy Cooper, Director of Studies at the Judicial College.
Commenting on the visit, Steve said: “Agencia, was asked to become involved in this visit by the Great Britain China Centre (GBCC), whose mission is to promote mutual trust and understanding between the UK and China, and to build long-term connections between decision-makers in both countries. GBCC works for shared prosperity through dialogue and the promotion of rule of law, good governance and sustainable development. Such a mission fits well with Agencia’s track record in managing judicial reform and educational projects and, through our ongoing collaboration with the Slynn Foundation we were able to draw on Professor Cooper’s extensive experience as well.”

GBCC see the key to their work is establishing and developing "knowledge bridges" with China. Therefore, GBCC organises political and economic dialogues, takes regular cross-party groups of UK politicians to China, invites high-level Chinese delegations to the UK for closed-door discussions with UK counterparts, and designs collaborative projects with Chinese partners. Such dialogues, research projects, seminars, training courses and events enhance mutual trust and understanding between the UK and China which in turn promotes our shared prosperity.
