Steve met with Chris, Faycal Ezziane, Projects Officer and Sally Harrison, Political Officer, to explore opportunities for Agencia to support health, social care and judicial reform programmes in the country. Algeria is a fast developing country and there appeared to be an appetite to expand relationships with British based companies. Steve also met with Maya Boumedine, Country Manager for the Algerian British Business Council and Muhammad Yousuf, Chief Executive Officer for 'Dan & Adam’, a company that supports the development of opportunities in Algeria for British companies. Steve received a warm welcome from everyone he met and recalls the dedication of the taxi driver taking him to a meeting at the British Embassy who, having realised that traffic congestion would make Steve late for his appointment, parked his taxi and made the rest of the journey on foot, delivering Steve safely and on time to his destination! Just one of the many examples of local people ‘going the extra mile!’
