Steve shared the platform with Tunisian experts, and Marie-Hélène Enderlin who leads on justice issues for the EU delegation in Tunisia. She and Steve had previously worked on judicial reform together in Croatia. The organiser of the Lord Mayor’s visit commented in an e-mail that he thought “the session that you participated in was the most thought provoking and certainly stimulated dialogue”. In subsequent discussions, Steve offered to re-run his own presentation for a larger audience at the Ministry.
Steve was also able to enjoy the Queen’s Birthday party in the grounds of the Ambassador’s residence (a building which also served as General Alexander’s headquarters during World War II). The party included a live screening of England’s football match with Uruguay – the less said about that the better, but at least no one was bitten in that match!
