“As a local business, we signed up to the Humber Skills Pledge because we are an organisation that exists to grow and develop organisations – the pledge fits with our strategy and company ethos. The pledge will benefit the wider community and local economy because it draws attention to the need for upskilling and continuous professional development – something which is critical in today’s economic environment. The pledge will also benefit Agencia because it recognises a lot of the good work that we are doing both with our own staff and the staff within the client organisations that Agencia is supporting.
Two Masters students at the University of Hull are already benefitting from this commitment to the pledge by Agencia providing and supervising 2 different student projects. The students are currently on the MSc in Management Consulting. This gives students real work experience which will enhance their employability prospects.
Agencia’s commitment to the Masters degree has existed for a couple of years; indeed the Masters was carefully developed in collaboration with Agencia. Agencia’s support to the course includes sponsorship of the best consulting project.
Course leader, Giles Hindle says: “The partnership we have with Agencia is invaluable. Our students receive direct teaching input from the Joint Managing Director of Agencia, Helen Gibson. The programme introduces students to key consulting skills such as: problem structuring, decision support technologies, quantitative methods, spreadsheet modelling, project management and client management. The programme can help students build a successful career in management consulting or add a practical skill set to their undergraduate studies in business and management.”
Helen Gibson said, “Agencia firmly believes in the Humber Skills Pledge’s goals for boosting the local economy through employment and training and is already doing its bit to push this forward. Mentoring students is one way we can help, but we’ll be looking at the other Skill Pledges as well to see how we can continue with our investment in our staff and the local community through the Humber LEP.”
