Unlike more traditional ways of providing opportunities to reminisce, the Pod provides a complete environment, with things to see, touch and interact with, to stimulate an individual’s recall. Individuals can communicate about their lives, experience familiarity and safety at a time when often nothing makes sense. The pod can also offer a wider experience to more individuals, who may have other cognitive impairments.
The target for collection is £1,500, which will allow the CTP to purchase a pod for use in a variety of locations across north East Lincolnshire. The picture below shows Agencia staff presenting the cheque to Jeanette Logan of NEL CTP.
There are currently 700,000 individuals in the UK with dementia. The Care Trust Plus (CTP) vision is for all individuals with dementia and their carers’ in North East Lincolnshire, to continue to live their life well and to the full. The CTP have a 3 year strategy in place to re-design local dementia care, to ensure services better meet the needs of individuals.
Commenting on the funds donated by Agencia, Jeannette Logan, Service Lead for Older People at North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus said: "I am delighted that Agencia has been able to make a donation towards the purchase of a pod.”
