We are looking to recruit a trainer/expert/consultant who can provide training on investigating cases related to sexual violence in conflict.
The training will need to cover:
- Understanding sexual violence and developments regarding sexual crimes related to conflict (legal framework and practice)
- Overall planning of an investigation / building a case file
- Assessment (research, risk assessment, assessing risk to information) and prior documentation of process
- Evidence collection and documentation of crimes of sexual violence
- Interview techniques including interview settings of victims/witnesses
- Gender sensitive approach in investigations including special measures of protection and support (avoiding re-traumatization of victims, protection of witness identity, confidentiality etc.
The trainer should have the following skills and experience;
Education and professional background of the consultant
A minimum level of Master’s degree in law or graduated from a Police Academy.
Skills and Experience of the consultant
- Minimum 10 years of working experience in the area of International Criminal Law. Such experience must be gained after having obtained the relevant degree;
- Minimum 5 years of professional work experience as a police investigator, prosecutor, or judge in the field of investigation of sexual violence related to conflict. Such experience must be gained after having obtained the relevant degree;
- Proven previous experience as a trainer is required;
- Good knowledge of political and cultural situation related with Balkans, particularly with Kosovo, would be an asset;
- Fluent in the English language;
- Excellent drafting and reporting skills;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
The work is 14 days split over three periods from April to June 2016.
