Agencia achieves glowing feedback from Service Users on recovery service

Image for servic user reportIn providing our Active Recovery Service, Agencia has always been interested in hearing the views of service users and their families.

In the autumn of 2014 we held a series of discussion groups with a small number of service users. These provided a rich perspective on the changes we had been making since taking over the service in April 2014.  However, as we had only engaged with a modest number of individuals during this process we decided to obtain greater feedback by developing and conducting a survey throughout the autumn of 2015.

The report of our findings was published in January 2016, and accumulated information collected from 72 service users. This figure represents approximately a third of the annual throughput of service users in Active Recovery. Our sample of 72 clients in the survey comprises of 51 men (71%) and 21 women (29%). We received overwhelmingly positive feedback with 89% of respondents fully agreeing and 8% agreeing that their goals, hopes and ambitions were considered in the treatment and 99% stating that they would recommend Active Recovery to friends and family!

The positive feedback doesn’t stop there.  We had a final opportunity on the questionnaire to comment on Active Recovery and found that those who have experienced substance misuse services elsewhere, including abroad, rated the service as the best they have ever experienced.

Below are just some of the comments we received in response to our survey:

  • They definitely don’t force you but give good advice on your options. Out of the 4 – 5 clinics I’ve attended this is the best, and where I’ve made most progress (reducing from 110ml and now on 36ml). Was on heroin for 18 years.
  • My partner is a big support and the team at Active Recovery make him feel like part of my journey, he’s always welcome to events. The team are always genuinely enquiring as to how my children are.
  • They have a difficult job but they are really encouraging. I’ve been on painkillers for years but they are very positive and believe I can change. Richard is inspiring, he’s been through it and can speak from the heart.
  • I am on a massive journey and have been for many years. The difference is I now see my destination and am excited to reach it. The whole Active Recovery team / volunteers make this possible.

We are incredibly proud of our achievements so far, and the Active Recovery team are looking forward to continuing to grow and further advance the service we offer.   The full report is available to download here: Service User Report .

More Information

North Lincolnshire Council has appointed Agencia to provide an innovative and challenging service supporting individuals who have long-term issues with substance abuse. The service, called ‘Active Recovery’, works across the county in close liaison with a team of General Practitioners and other medical professionals to meet the needs of clients through the prescription of appropriate Opiate Substitution Therapy. This medical support is imbedded within a holistic and challenging package of care and psychosocial interventions to enable clients to achieve their personal ‘recovery’ goals and support them on the journey towards a drug free life.
