We are pleased to announce that out of 22 teams, our Active Recovery Team from North Lincolnshire were the winners of the Recovery Games 2015. Recovery Games is organised by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) and is held to celebrate individuals’ recovery from drug and alcohol misuse. Teams, made up of service users, workers, friends and family and consisting of between 8-10 people are invited from across the region. The day is made up of a series of fun events with a sporting theme. Points are awarded for performance, sportsmanship and effort (as well as possibly amusement value). The event took place on 21st August at the Hatfield Activity Centre, Hatfield Marina, Doncaster, and along with the games, also included fun family events and motivational speakers.
The Active Recovery Team demonstrated great athleticism, determination and the ability to have a good laugh on the way to a famous result. Active Recovery works across North Lincolnshire in close liaison with a team of General Practitioners and other medical professionals to meet the needs of clients through the prescription of appropriate Opiate Substitution Therapy. Helen Kirk of Active Recovery, who organized the team said: ‘it was a great result and very unexpected. What was particularly good was that we had team members from Ancora Medical Practice, our partner service Step Forward, friends and family so everyone was represented.’
