Many are currently awaiting news as to the Ministry of Justice’s preferred bidders for Community Rehabilitation Companies. Agencia is aware of the long and demanding process that this has involved, and also of the challenges that preferred bidders and eventual contract providers may face. The need for a speedy cultural realignment as the CRC moves from what is yet an embedded ‘public sector’ culture to that of being a commercial service provider.
The need for CRC providers to retain, secure and train the right staff, particularly in an environment where work within the National Probation Service may yet be viewed as the preferred option.
The need for CRCs to re-orientate their work with offenders, away from that previously required of Probation Trusts, and towards that which delivers expected contractual outcomes.
The need for CRC providers to negotiate and manage their relationship and arrangements with the National Probation Service in order to ensure ‘whole system’ management of the offender journey.
The need for CRC providers to secure, manage and maintain a supply-chain of subcontracted service providers in order to commission for outcomes.
The need for CRC providers to negotiate and establish a productive relationship with statutory agencies, partners and stakeholders within the locality.

We are confident that we can productively address these issues with you. However, we also recognise that there is a more urgent need for you to undertake a pre-contract review of provision and assets within the CRC. We would like to assist you to complete this important first step.
