Agencia helps raise over 10,000 Euros for neonatal care by backing 'Cycle Kosovo for Children'

Agencia turned to pedal power to provide further support to its projects developing communities in Kosovo.

The company backed Cycle Kosovo for Children 2019 as a corporate sponsor, with one of its Kosovo Project Managers (Mark Dixon) being a founding member of the event involved in the organisation, and a participant again this year.

Cycle Kosovo for Children started in 2014, with just seven international riders; this year more than 30 took part in the 4 day tour, around Kosovo, with a short deviation to Albania covering 600km.

The challenge was completed successfully, raising over 10,000 Euros in support of the foundation “Action for Mothers and Children.”  The funds raised will be used to buy hospital beds for babies at the Neonatal Clinic in Mitrovica. Albion Hadri, organiser of Cycle Kosovo for Children said: "We are grateful for all the donations this year and we are happy that with the funds we have raised along this journey we will help improve the efficiency of care provided to our newborns in Mitrovica."

Mark Dixon said: “Cycle Kosovo for Children not only impacts in a direct and positive way on the lives of mothers and young children through improving the medical care they receive, but it also reinforces this partnership approach that includes support delivered by Agencia to improve the lives of people in a post-conflict or transitioning environment.

Kosovo still suffers from the highest infant mortality rate in Europe and what we in the UK would see as basic neonatal services is sadly still lacking in the state health system here. We are delighted that individuals and businesses, particularly those with interest in Kosovo, have supported us by donating.”

Agencia has built up a long track record of delivering successful projects in Kosovo, including a contract last year funded by the EU to assist Kosovo authorities by further supporting general law enforcement and a transparent judicial system, with a focus on forensic medicine services.  The contract, worth €2m, runs until 2021 and is being completed as part of an international consortium.

More recently, working with Axiom International, Agencia secured another contract in Kosovo with a particular focus on improving the integrity and transparency of the justice system.
