Agencia’s Active Recovery Team attend Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral for the UK’s Largest Diversity Award Nomination
20th September 2018 joy

Members from the Active Recovery team and The Detox Club were in good company at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral last Friday for their successful shortlisting in the ‘Community Organisation Award for Multi-Strand’ at the National Diversity Awards 2018.

A total of 24,584 people were nominated this year, which resulted in 124 nominees being recognised for their various achievements nationwide.

The event, which boasted multiple celebrity appearances and a spot on the national ITV news channel, featured a host of inspirational and influential people from various Community organisations across the UK, as well as honouring individual role models to recognise the best of British diversity.

Amongst those honoured and awarded were freedom fighters, domestic violence campaigners and trans rights activists, all of whom work tirelessly to combat injustice and discrimination in very different ways.

North Lincolnshire Council appointed Agencia to provide an innovative and challenging service supporting individuals who have long-term issues with substance abuse.  The service, called ‘Active Recovery’, works across the county in close liaison with a team of General Practitioners and other medical professionals to meet the needs of clients through the prescription of appropriate Opiate Substitution Therapy. This medical support is embedded within a holistic and challenging package of care and psychosocial interventions to enable clients to achieve their personal ‘recovery’ goals and support them on the journey towards a drug free life.

In late 2015, Active Recovery established The Detox Club as a drop in for Service Users and their families. The Detox Club then transitioned into a constitution within its own right earlier this year, following a meeting and voting process which involved service users and staff.

Helen Kirk, Service Manager of Active Recovery and Committee Member of The Detox Club shortlisted for the Community Organisation Award for Multi-Strand said:

“We are extremely happy and excited to have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award.  Our nomination is great recognition for the inclusion that Active Recovery and The Detox Club offer to the North Lincolnshire community

So many heartfelt testimonies really showcased how these people and organisations are having a profound impact on the lives of others, and I applaud them for their dedication to each specific cause. Congratulations to all our shortlisted nominees, it is a privilege to recognise your bravery, resilience and courage and I am honoured to share this with the nation.
